Update on Snoball

I love how God works, but wish I could have some questions as to why things happen.

Snoball did a 180 last night!! He is doing so much better. After a quiet "yelling" prayer session with God and shedding some tears on Snoball and then a helpful nudge from his son (Tristan)- he just got up and started playing! He is almost back to who he was Friday morning!!!! I can not express how thankful I am that he is so much better in such a short amount of time.

Even with his great improvement, we still won't be taking him with us. We've also decided that we will go over dog-less and IF we can't stand a no pet lifestyle, then we will adopt a boonie dog.

I am just so glad Snoball is feeling better! You have no idea how bad the past few days have been... I kept preparing myself for putting him down soon. Now? I think between Snoball's will to live and be happy here and God letting him stay awhile longer, he will be ok. I know its too soon to say for sure, but after talking to a couple vets and breeders I'm pretty sure he'll be ok.

Thank you all for the prayers and kind words on him. He is my first baby boy and we're blessed that he's still here. :)

Heart wrenching Friday...

First off, I am SOOOOOO glad James is back! I don't know what I would've done without him today.

Second... Snoball went into heart failure today. We don't know why or what sparked it. He was fine one minute and unresponsive and blue the next. I thank James and God that I was able to get him to the vet when I did.

When I got there with a limp Snoball, they immediately gave him oxygen and took x-rays. His heart is very enlarged and his lungs were starting to fill with fluid. After giving him a sedative and heart meds, the waiting game began. I was sent home since I was a mess. After waiting hours and two phones to the vet, we were able to pick him up and take him home. He looks kinda drunk and completely worn out, but nonetheless alive!! I can not thank God enough for allowing me this time with him. I will treasure each day even more with him.

Sadly, this means Snoball will not be going to Guam with us. He will live with my parents... I'm very torn up about it, but trying to hold myself together for my husband and son.Theses pictures were taken on earlier this week... I will be taking newer pictures of him now.

Yay... another "first" for Will (and me). [insert sarcasism here]

I am writing this when I should be in bed trying to sleep! Yesterday after playing at the park, Will woke up from his nap really hot. I changed his clothes into shirt and shorts, gave him a cool snack. We had to run two errands and then headed home. On the way home he felt even hotter! I took his temp as soon as we got in the door (ok... maybe a few minutes after)- it was 102.5! So, I gave him children's Motrin and frozen grapes while I off loaded the Caliber. Off to the lukewarm bath we went! An hour after I gave him the Motrin his temp was 99 even. So, I went about getting him dinner and doing the usual routine not thinking much of it other than teething and it was HOT outside. Bedtime rolls around... I took his temp (7pm-ish) and it was back up! He couldn't have more stuff for about 2hrs. Once again he got a cooler than normal bath. While we waited for the tub to fill up he was shivering really bad and was very hot. Since he was a ketchup mess, he got his bath and into jammies. Took his temp and it had gone up to 102.3. Off to Madigan we went (8pm). Got there and the first nursed that tried to do his vitals was pretty young looking and did NOT know how to deal with an upset baby. Waited for someone more experienced... half hour later. He weighed in at 27 1/2 lbs... but his temp was 104.5!
The nurse was very nice and calming with the whole thing. Had me give him some tylenol and sit in the waiting room to get seen. Poor baby was burning up! I was getting worried and frustrated. The whole time we were waiting two things happened- I kept thinking that I knew what was wrong (I was right in the end); and people waiting kept staring at Will. I had a couple people come up and compliment me on how handsome and good looking he looks. Totally caught me off guard! One guy said he wanted to call his parents up and ask why they couldn't make him (the guy) a black version of Will. It lightened my mood a bit.
In between compliments, I was either sitting and fanning meester Will or walking around or holding him (fussing of course) over top the air purifier (the only form of a fan they had). They finally re-took his temp and it was back down to 102.5. Then we had to wait some more! At about 10pm we were taken into a room (I probably annoyed the nurses asking about fans or things to cool him down). Saw the doctor for all of 50 seconds at 10:21. She agreed with me, he has an ear infection in his left ear (otitis media aka middle ear). Prescribed amoxicillin and sent us home. We left Madigan at 11pm- a record time!

Little did I know that the fun had only just begun. He woke up every hour and a half! All he wanted was his cup, pacifier, blanket, and me. I'd turn on Noggin (kids channel) and we both doze in and out. When he'd calm down enough I'd lay him back down. When he woke up for the 4th time (maybe 5th) at 5am, he was on fire! I gave him Motrin and stripped him down. Thankfully I had baby wipes on the table next to me. I kept wiping him down, letting the cold night air (from the fan and windows) blow on him. Finally it broke! We were both so exhausted by 6am that we both fell asleep right away. He slept until 8:15 when the stupid Emily's barking (wanted inside) woke us both up. It startled him awake. I was livid!
So, we went about the usual daily routine. He did pretty good as long as he was in my arms. If I put him down he'd get so upset. Needless to say my arms are very sore. This kept up ALL day with only an hour and a half nap from noon to 1:30pm (I slept too). He didn't go to bed until after 9pm.

I never knew how much I actually enjoyed my showers until this evening. My escape from everything! So, on that note I AM going to bed. I hope and pray we can both get more sleep! We have a late night tomorrow (picking up James at the air port).

I just want my baby to feel better!

Carter Lake... our escape from insanity

Spring has decided to finally show up and stick around! I took advantage of it and walked to the "lake" (more like a pond than anything, but we'll go with the "lake" thing). It was great- 65 degrees and sunny! Will enjoyed it as did old man Snoball. Here's proof of our adventure. Hope everyone is doing good! I'm busy getting ready for James' return and going through stuff in preparation for Guam.

This is how we looked... Snoball in the front pack and Will riding in his spiffy stroller.
Beautiful...
Not a sea turtles like Hailey, Kailee, and Claudia got to swim with... just a pond turtle sun bathing!
On the move.
Some Canadian birds.. Eh?
The ever flexible Will... He can bend in half and then some.
A smile!
My first baby... 9 1/2yrs and still going!
He was showing me that the park was "his" (patting his chest means "mine").
In constant motion! Probably one of my favorites from today.
No, he wasn't kissing the grass... he tripped right as I took the picture! He got up and ran it off.
I think it is a Blue Heron! Regardless, its beautiful! (Can you see where it ended up sitting?)

This year is flying by!

I can't believe how fast this year is going by! Before I know it we'll be enjoying the warm sun in Guam.
So, James is in Maryland for heat treating school and should be back next week! I hate the last week before they come home... it seems to drag oooooon. Anyways, I went to the dentist for the first time since Will was born and surprisingly enough only one itty bitty cavity! That means when that gets fixed (soon) I will have my overseas clearance!

Along that line, Snoball's blood test was received on April 1st (not sure how since he had the blood drawn that day). The written results should be in by this coming week. So, let the 120 day countdown begin!

Will is doing great! He got to terrorize my brother, his fiance, and my parents for Easter in Spokompton (aka Spokane). Not matter what they did to help prevent accidents he managed to come home with a face full of bumps, bruises and scratches, PLUS scabbed up legs (from the rose bushes)! Nothing even phased him... it just looks bad. Otherwise, he had A LOT of fun.

Aside from that... I am doing Weight Watchers with my neighbor and so far so good! In 6 days I lost 3lbs! Not really that much, but every pound counts. I refuse to be overweight and have all the problems my parents and grandparents have! Both of my parents got pacemakers this year and my grandma has had one for awhile, too. I am already being diagnosed with stuff my parents have and I'm more than 1/2 their age! I want to be there for Will and James. So, bear with me on this journey! My goal is 40lbs by Guam and then the rest within a year after that. I can do it! I will do it!

Well, I think that is everything for now. If I think of something I'll add it!

Oh! I got new glasses (only my second pair EVER). And boy do I love them!! What do you think??

When bubbles attack!!

This year we've experienced A LOT of firsts with Will (walking, talking, etc.) and one has been getting him to use the tub. It use to be a battle to bath him- not now! After months of working with him we now have it to where he reminds me (or us) its bath time. So, last night I decided to put some bubbles in the mix.
He had a blast! I was so happy! I had to run to get the camera... he kept peering over the ledge calling me (so cute).

Also, this weekend James heads out for 3 weeks to Maryland for upgrade training. I will be in Spokane for Easter and then home to sort through my stuff and sell stuff.

Anyways... we are all doing pretty darn good! Today Snoball had his Rabies titer and the countdown should start next week for the "5 day or less" quarantine (basically a by-pass).

Well, here are some bubble pictures! I'll write more later...
