New Addition

This past month we realized it would be more of a hassle to have a dog shipped here than it was originally thought to be. Combine that with the passing of the 15 1/2 yr old dachshund (Willy) early this month, the decision became clear. So, we decided to let me dad keep Emily as his dog and we'd get a cat/kitten while we're here. Win-win, especially for the rescued feline.

On Veteran's Day we went to GAIN (Guam's Animals In Need) to "look" at kittens/cats. I saw one I really liked and James thought it was cool looking. But, right outside the cat house there was a run with tiny puppies. We pushed the stroller on by, while Will pointed and said, "Ma dog!". Of the three puppies he pointing at he like the puppy that had one ear up and one ear down with short legs (mighty cute, but pretty funny looking). I went into the run and played with the puppies and held the one girl he pointed at. (Just a note- one pup had both ears up w/long legs, another had medium legs w/both ears down, and the other had short legs w/one ear up and one down.)
Will got all excited and giggled. But, James wasn't wanting another dog so we walked away. We showed Will the other dogs and cats. Along the way there was one dog that could've easily passed at the father to the pups- cream sable in color w/ short legs and the same ears. Before we left James said I could fill out an adoption form for the pup Will and I liked so much (James did to, but was trying to be tough). I did and we left. A few hours later we get a call saying we were approved and to come in to finalize it! So, two days later we picked her up (she had to be spayed before we could bring her home). When I went in to finalize everything, I found out she is a true Boonie dog- picked up with her littermates wandering on the side of the road. FYI- "Boonie" is what they call the feral animals on the island, usually cats or dogs.

(James likes calls her our "econo-mutt" since she was low cost mutt.)

She is one of the sweetest puppies I've ever had! She absolutely loves Will and can be caught in deep fascination with whatever he is doing. I'm amazed by how smart she is at 7wks old! From what I've read, boonie dogs are some of the smartest dogs around. I guess you'd have to be in order to survive in the Guam jungles.

Anyways, our closest guess to her mix is a dachshund and german shepherd mix. Of course we'll never know and it doesn't matter!

You may have noticed I haven't used her name. That's 'cause she doesn't really have one. The shelter called her Lisa, but it just doesn't seem to 'fit' her. James like the name, but I can't help to think there's a better one for her. If anyone has any ideas, please let us know! I'd like an island sounding name and my current pick is Naile (it means "Tall and slender" in Chamorro).
I see them teaming up against me in the future!

The first night home he just sat next to her and petted her so gently.
He was trying to pet her when I took this picture.

Thank you!

We'd like to thank all of the US service members on Veteran's Day! Without them we wouldn't have the freedoms we do! Thank you for your sacrifices! We appreciate you!
(To those who are deployed, we hope you have a safe return.)

God bless!

The shag was tamed!

Yesterday we took Will to have his hair professionally cut for the first time. This time around I was happy and still am! (Not like when I buzzed off all of his baby fuzz early this year.) Will did not approve of the electric shaver, but sat very still for scissors! He did so good and I think he liked being pampered... plus, he could see himself in the mirror!

The ladies (and guy) loved Will's hair! They kept saying how blonde he is and I think they started a shrine of him in the back with the hair.

Funny, now he reminds me a lot of my brother Isaiah (when he was a kid)!

I love the shaggy hair!

This picture shows the hair cut, but not the best face from Will. :)

The Many Adventures of Mr. Mailman

On Sprout Live TV (or whatever its called) they have a mini episode of "Mr. Mailman". Since I first saw it I've looked all over for a video of it to show my dad- no go. They didn't even have one on the main site, UGH! So, I FINALLY made my own video of it! Every time I see Mr. Mailman it reminds me of my dad and I tell Will, "He's just like Papa". I hope you enjoy it dad! :)

What the feather?!

Today was the day to weed the flower bed... it was finally not raining and my neck/shoulder wasn't hurting as bad. I didn't realize how bad it looked until I got out there!

While weeding, I reached to pull out a weed at the root and saw something move. It was a chicken! She was laying there ever so still and scared me so bad! The darn thing laid 9 eggs in my flower bed!! A CHICKEN in my flower bed?! She wasn't there last week as I could still see the ground, so it must have happened over the weekend.

The monstrous weeds!

As done as it's gonna get until the eggs hatch!
What's this?!?!

Surprisingly she didn't move when I was taking pictures.
She is also, THE chicken that would sit on the wall outside our bedroom window "crowing" to wake me up!!
